JOFW- behind the scenes madness

Five fashion photographers selected for Jabong Online Fashion Week were flown to Delhi for a week to cover the first ever shoppable online fashion week. The five day extravaganza started on 25th July and ended on 30th July with the finale show. 

The five day madness included look tests, fittings, lots of rehearsals, photo shoots, some light and intense moments. This hustle bustle was covered by NDTV Good Times.  

I always enjoy capturing the backstage madness as I get a chance to see some of the most awkward/ lazy/ tense moments and also to see what actually is behind making a show successful. People are running all over, bumping and dashing into one another and someone always ends up loosing something, but this is all forgotten as the show must go on !

Forbidden Rediscovery of Love - a photo story

      

       Laura is a model. She has to wear different masks in front of the camera, but she is also wearing a mask, an identity in her personal life trying to keep up with social norms. Even though she thinks that she has found love with a man, something keeps her lost and incomplete. This void is filled when she rediscovers herself and finds true love in a woman and senses the touch of freedom.

This photo story was also a part of submission for 'Jabong Online Fashion Week' in the Fashion Photography category. This was the base to judge the entries and best five would get a chance to be backstage during Jabong Online Fashion Week as well as do a creative photoshoot. I was lucky enough to be selected as one of the top five winners.

Playing/ experimenting with light is an integral part of photography/ cinematography. 

As a part of my MA learning, I had to take portraits of my team mates based on their roles/ personality types.

 A charming girl from China. She is bubbly, always ready to tap her feet to Salsa, absolutely loves England but is proud of her culture.

 A typical beautiful Italian, who enjoys simplicity, pasta and absolutely loves her family. She is organised, always to the point and no beating around the bush. Honesty is her pride and non sense just annoys her!

Half Brazilian and half Italian she truly is multi-cultural. Stubbornness is her asset. She is firm and always experimenting.

The petit chique French girl, you just cannot ignore. Her English in French accent makes you smile even when she is being harsh. Just what you need in a producer encouraging but also limitating and keeping her head strong with priorities.
